Just wanted to have dinner with my mom at our hotel and then we found out that today was the ASEAN Conference in Pattaya which is not too far from us ( like 50km i guess). A german family who also stays at our hotel told us that they had to stop the conference because of major protests. There were shots in the air.
I dont know if you remember the troubles which have been back in 2006 in Thailand with the Airport blockade and all that, but yes it all comes back !!!
They had to rescue the japanese and south korean premier minister with helicopters !
Thaksin Shinawatra the old premier which has been banned in 2006 is baiting against the new premier.
Now in Bangkok there is exceptional circumstanstances with tanks and army. Meetings of 5 or more people are not allowed anymore.
There are more than 10 000 people on the street which sympathize with the old premier Thaksin Shinawatra, all dressed in red shirts (thats why errone calls em redshirts).
The very powerful army is threating with a putsch and no one really knows on what side they are.
If the situation not calms down within the next two days and honestely from what I read it doesnt look like that at all there is no chance to go to Bangkok!
Damn I wanted to see Bangkok at least another time for sooo long, and I am a little afraid of what will happen nxt.
I am afraid that the situation will get wrose and that there might be a kinda war.
